Apple’s First Touchscreen MacBook Pro Coming Oct 28

Apple is not done with 2026 yet. Just days after its latest product wave, Apple’s senior vice president of marketing Greg Joswiak teased new product announcements coming next week with a cryptic post on X: “Can’t wait to pro and tell next week.” The teaser confirms what Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has been reporting — Apple is gearing up for an October 28 launch event in Los Angeles where the star of the show will be the first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro.

Apple’s ‘Pro and Tell’ Event: Date and Format

Apple has invited select media and creators to an in-person “experience” in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, starting at 10:00 am PT (10:30 pm IST). Unlike a traditional Apple keynote, the announcements are expected to arrive as press releases, followed by hands-on sessions where journalists can try the new Macs and iPad mini — the same playbook Apple used for its recent HomeView smart display, Apple TV and HomePod mini announcements.

According to Bloomberg, the new devices will go on sale on Friday, November 6.

First Touchscreen MacBook Pro: The Headline Act

The biggest news is Apple’s first Mac with a touchscreen — a major philosophical shift for a company that spent years insisting touch belongs on the iPad, not the Mac. Here is what reports say is coming:

OLED touchscreen display

The new high-end MacBook Pro is expected to feature an OLED display with touch support, paired with an iPhone-style Dynamic Island replacing the notch and a hole-punch camera cutout.

M5 Pro and M5 Max chips

Under the hood, the redesigned model is tipped to run on Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, in a chassis that is significantly lighter and slightly thinner than today’s models.

A new higher-end tier

Interestingly, this touchscreen model is not expected to replace the current MacBook Pro lineup — it will debut as a new, higher-end option sitting above it. Early chatter about a “MacBook Ultra” name has cooled, since the event tagline leans on “Pro.”

M6 MacBook Pro and M6 iMac

Alongside the flagship, Apple is reportedly preparing an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip — the same chip that recently debuted in the Mac mini — keeping the current design but bringing a big performance jump. The 24-inch iMac is also due for a refresh with the M6 chip, and may add Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support.

iPad Mini Finally Gets OLED

The iPad mini is in line for its biggest update in years. The headline upgrade is an OLED display — making it only the second iPad after the iPad Pro to get one. Reports also point to a faster A-series Pro chip from the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo family, a front camera moved to the landscape edge, a more powerful speaker system and improved water resistance.

Why This Event Matters

It has been a relentless few months for Apple: the iPhone Pro 18 series, the foldable iPhone Duo (whose pre-orders sold out in India within an hour), Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, AirPods 5, the new HomeView smart display, Apple TV and HomePod mini 2. A touchscreen Mac would cap the year by breaking one of Apple’s longest-held design taboos.

With the official announcements just over a week away, expect pricing, configurations and India availability to be confirmed on October 28 — and if you are in the market for a premium laptop, it may be worth waiting until November 6.
